Apparently, my Southern "twang" comes through even on paper.
Funny. Who could figure a guy from Tennessee would have an accent?
The "eh" is a positive emphasis and is almost always found at the end of a question.
For example:
Not bad, eh?
That was a pretty good movie, eh?
The Canucks (that's a Hockey team) are playing pretty well, eh?
It doesn't sound as natural on paper, but there's your first lesson in the correct usage of "eh".
It is used to indicate indifference to a statement, and usually preceeded by the word 'but'.
One would read my sentence: "Not much info for the Canadians, but I'm too lazy to do anything about it."
"eh?" is shorthand, because it obviously takes too long to write out "I'm to lazy to do anything about it."
