Jan 2 - Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Today is the Eighth day of Christmas, a day for mediation on the qualities of Scorpio: Intensity, Passion, and Power. It is associated with St. John the Beloved. This sign is near and dear to my heart, as it is my sun sign.

1. Begin with the sign of the Cross. In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirt. Amen.

2 Remain in silence for some minutes. Let your breath attain a natural rhythm.

3. Sing or chant: Kyrie Eleison, Christe Eleison, Kyrie Eleison or Lord have Mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have Mercy

4. Read, repeat, and meditate upon the scripture reading for today: Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.-Matthew 5:8

5. Memorize and repeat the scripture, taking it into yourself. Let it flow through you, and see how it applies to you, today.

6. Read, repeat, and meditate upon the Gnostic Scripture, Corpus Hermeticum, XII:11 for the day:

"Do not, then, let terms trouble thee; action and passion are both the selfsame thing. "

7. Memorize and repeat the scripture, taking it into yourself. Let if flow through you, and see how it applies to you.

8. Recite this small prayer:

I am a point of light within a greater light.
I am a strand of loving energy within the stream of love divine.
I am a point of sacrificial fire, focused within the fiery will of God.
And thus I stand.

8. Look upon the image of the Glyph of Scorpio, and be silent.




9. When moved to do so, end with the sign of the Cross.

100 books to read

I went and found this over on my old livejournal. I've decided to start working on the list again.  I have read a few of the books since I posted the original list in July 2008, but I'll update it as I go along. "Someone" reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they’ve printed. It's not the Big Read though -- they don't publish books, and they've only featured these books so far. In any event... 1) Look at the list and bold those you have read. 2) Italicize those you started but did not finish. 3) Underline the books you LOVE. 4) Reprint this list in your own blog so we can try and track down these people who’ve read 6 or less and force books upon them. The Masonic Egregore

A reasonable summary of the concept of the "Egregore" can be found at the following link: http://salemos.tripod.com/index-50.html My question is this: Does anyone share my feeling that Freemasonry has an egregore that is fed by performing its ritual, regardless of the intent of the ritualists? In other words, for those of us that are inclined to find a truly deeper spiritual aspect of our Craft, is there truly a "house not made with hands" that is sustained by the many who regularly perform the ritual, but which - at least on a certain level - is only accessible to those "with eyes to see"?
